REPORT CARD VS. RAVENS

PASSING OFFENSE: D -- Jason Campbell's final numbers look respectable but that's in part because he completed 7-of-12 passes for 79 yards and a touchdown in the fourth quarter. The quarterback spent much of the night on the move trying to avoid the onrushing Ravens, particularly Terrell Suggs, who had two sacks, two hurries and two passes defensed. Antwaan Randle El led the Redskins with five catches and a touchdown but had only 47 yards. Santana Moss had 48 yards on four catches. Tight end Chris Cooley had just one catch for 12 yards.

RUSHING OFFENSE: D -- No. 1 running back Clinton Portis had fumbled just once on 279 touches before Ed Reed punched the ball out on his second carry and returned it for a touchdown that made it 14-0 just 5:30 into the game. Portis managed just 32 yards on 11 carries before being sat down by coach Jim Zorn when the Redskins went to a passing mode, trailing by two touchdowns in the third quarter. Backup Ladell Betts produced three yards on six carries. Fullback Mike Sellers bulled twice for 16 yards. The line lost its battle in the trenches.

PASS DEFENSE: C -- As with the run defense, mistakes early and late overshadowed stellar play in between. Derrick Mason got away from Landry for 26 yards on the first snap. Mason toasted cornerback Carlos Rogers on a double move for the 28-yard touchdown that sealed Washington's fate with just 3:35 remaining. Blades was burned for a 30-yard catch by Todd Heap but dumped Willis McGahee for an 8-yard loss, two plays before Landry's interception set up Shaun Suisham's field goal. Safety Mike Green had seven tackles in place of the injured Chris Horton.

RUSH DEFENSE: B -- The Redskins allowed 29 yards and a touchdown on three runs on the first series but held the Ravens to 61 yards on 21 carries on their next 10 possessions. Linebackers London Fletcher, Rocky McIntosh and H.B. Blades combined for 30 tackles. Safety LaRon Landry forced a fumble that set up a touchdown. But when the Ravens needed to play keep away after their lead had been cut to 17-10 in the fourth quarter, they slammed away for 58 yards and four first down on 10 straight runs, 10 by fullback Le'Ron McClain.

SPECIAL TEAMS: D-plus -- The punt team allowed Jameel McClain to storm up the middle to partially block Ryan Plackemeier's first punt. Plackemeier, who has struggled since replacing Durant Brooks in October, averaged 36.4 yards gross and 35.1 net on seven punts on a very cold and windy night. Suisham's miss from 48 yards was his fourth straight errant kick from beyond 26 yards, a streak he ended with a 43-yarder in the fourth quarter. The coverage units were superb. The return units were not.

COACHING: C-minus -- Blame coach
