--Unlike most recent Redskins safeties (none has had more than six interceptions since 1983), rookie Chris Horton has a nose for the ball as he showed again against Dallas. The Cowboys had scored 10 of the previous 13 points to cut Washington's lead to 20-17. Horton then closed on a pass to Miles Austin and made the interception that set up a field goal that gave the Redskins some breathing room.
"We had a call where I had to get all the way out (to the Washington sideline), and I got in position and made the play," said Horton, who was starting his first game in place of the benched Reed Doughty. "I was giving up that ball all week in practice, but I was reading (Romo's) eyes, and when his eyes got big, I just turned and caught it."
Horton was the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his two interceptions and fumble recovery on Sept. 14 against New Orleans. He now has three picks in four games.
--All was right in Jon Jansen's world on Sunday. His Redskins beat the Cowboys in Dallas for just the second time in his 10 seasons, and he was back in the starting lineup for the first time since the 2007 opener (when his season ended with a broken right leg) in place of Stephon Heyer, who had a sprained left shoulder.
"I feel great to be able to be a part of it, to win here in the last time we play in this stadium," Jansen said. "We won here in 2005, but we needed two late scores to pull that one out (14-13). This was much more satisfying. We were in control or at least in the game for most of the game."
