"It's scary being stuck in a pile like that," Taylor said. "You hope it's not the big one, but it's a physical game and things happen. You can't play the game afraid of getting hurt. Thank God it's not as bad as I thought. I'm very fortunate. I watched the play again [on television] and ... as ugly as it looked, it could've been a lot worse."

--If Taylor doesn't return for the game against the Super Bowl champions, his streak of 130 consecutive games, which has survived a broken arm, broken thumbs, a sprained MCL and plantar fasciitis in both feet, will come to an end.

"I've been beat up before during the season," Taylor said. "To be able to play through those things and always show up on Sunday is something I do take pride in. I don't want to miss one now, but some things are out of our control."

--RY Jon Jansen was also hurt against the Panthers, but after missing all of 2004 and almost all of 2007 with leg injuries, he'll take a sprained right foot now.

"I can pretty much tell now if it's something major or if it's something small," Jansen said. "It's just something small. I'm happy it happened when it did so I have time to get ready for the New York game. It's responded well to treatment and I have no doubt that in a couple of days, I'll be fine."

--After considering resting the starters for the fifth preseason game, coach Jim Zorn will play all of his offensive regulars and some of the defensive ones on Aug. 28 against Jacksonville in the wake of the 47-3 whipping Washington endured on Aug. 23 at Carolina.

"Had they gone out there and played with any consistency, I probably wouldn't bring them back," Zorn said. "They want to get back out there as well. They just want to anchor a little bit and not so much rip everyone a new one but work together cohesively."
