SEAHAWKS VS. REDSKINS

SEAHAWKS VS. REDSKINS
WHEN/WHERE: Sunday, 1:15 p.m., Qwest Field

TV: KCPQ/13; Matt Vasgersian, J.C. Pearson, Nischelle Turner

RADIO: KIRO-AM/710; KIRO-FM/97.3; Steve Raible, Warren Moon, Akemi Takei

RECORDS: Seahawks 2-8, Redskins 6-4

MATCHUP MICROSCOPE: Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck vs. Redskins QB Jason Campbell. This isn't head-to-head, of course, but the performances of Jim Zorn's prot?g? (Hasselbeck) and latest project (Campbell) definitely will impact the outcome. After not throwing an interception in the Redskins' first eight games (and 249 pass attempts), Campbell has thrown three in the past two games (and 58 attempts) - both losses. Hasselbeck, meanwhile, has thrown seven picks - at least one in four of the five games he has played, including three in last week's loss to Arizona, his first game back after sitting out five to rehab his back. While the Redskins scored six and 10 points in those losses, the Seahawks offense has not scored more than 17 in its six games against non-NFC West teams.

ONE TO WATCH: Clinton Portis. When he's healthy, the Redskins' all-purpose running back is one of those all-day suckers for the opposing defense. He runs (1,063 yards, second in the NFL). He catches (20 receptions). He piles up yardage at an alarming rate (1,219 combined rushing and receiving, tops in the NFL). Portis is playing with a sprained ligament in his left knee, which has helped limit him to 51 and 68 rushing yards the past two games - which coincides with Campbell's dip in efficiency. The Seahawks have to find a way to prevent Portis, and the Redskins offense, from getting healthy this week.

FUN AT WATCH: Zorn. The Seahawks' original QB, who coached the position for them the past seven seasons, is running his own show now. And he has the Redskins in the thick of the NFC wild-card race. This will be a tough game for the Redskins to stay focused, considering they played the NFC East-rival Dallas Cowboys last week and host the division-leading New York Giants next week. Then there's the issue of where this game is being played. Zorn will be standing on the east sideline, under the Seahawks' Ring of Honor that includes his name.

NOTABLE: The Seahawks are 0-2 against the NFC East this season, and have been outscored 70-13 by the Giants and Philadelphia Eagles . Next up: The Cowboys in Dallas on Thanksgiving Day. ... Julius Jones leads the Seahawks with 616 yards and is looking to become the third back in franchise history to rush for 1,000 in his first season with the team - joining Curt Warner (1983) and Ricky Watters (1998). But he has only 243 yards in the past six games, after rushing for 373 in the first four. ... Seahawks kicker Olindo Mare is tied for fourth in the league with 14 touchbacks on his kickoffs and his field-goal percentage (93.8) ranks fifth.

LINE: Redskins by 3

P-I PICK: Redskins 24, Seahawks 16
