The Cleveland Browns and Washington Redskins aren’t total strangers. They have met 43 times in their histories.
Most of that, however, happened before the NFL-AFL merger of 1970. Since then the two have met just seven times. In fact, due to scheduling quirks, this will be the Browns’ first visit to Washington since 1991.
And, yes, that is a picture from that game.
That was back when the Soviet Union was crumbling, Magic Johnson was retiring due to contracting HIV, courts were banning Dr. Kevorkian from assisted suicides, Mike Tyson was arrested for raping Desiree Washington, Jeffrey Dahmer was finally caught, Pee-Wee Herman was arrested for publicly assaulting himself, Super Nintendo was born and Freddie Mercury died.
It was also the last season the Redskins went to a Super Bowl.
